Adventures of an Incurable Idiot
Has you seen Adventures of an Incurable Optimist? It’s a tv special starring Michael J. Fox. It initially aired on ABC last May. If you haven’t seen it, find a copy and watch it. Now, you’re probably wondering why I’m posting about something so inspirational. I know, it isn’t exactly our MO. And, here’s where the story becomes relevant.
As much as I enjoyed the special, the promos for it are tugging at my last nerves.
The special initially aired on ABC, so all of the original promos start and end with 5 second long network identifiers (ie Only on ABC). Well, when TLC picked up the special last month, they needed to promote it and they couldn’t keep the ABC network identifiers in the commercial. So what’d they do? They filled the extra 10 seconds with one of the most retarded quotes I’ve ever heard.
At the end of the promo, an unnamed black gentleman tells Michal J. Fox, “Music is the soundtrack to optimism.”
Well no shit.
You know what music is also the soundtrack for?
Parkinson’s.
Music is the soundtrack for Parkinson’s.
You know why?
Because music is the fucking soundtrack for everything.
He could have said,”Music is the soundtrack to (INSERT LITERALLY ANY WORD HERE)” and his statement still would have had as much impact.
Seriously Michael J. WTF?
You wrote a great book. You produced an amazing special. Why ruin it with such poorly written meaningless fluff bullshit.
That is all.
